Clarendon Hill Towers Apartments Administration Building
The Clarendon Hill Towers Apartments complex in Somerville, MA is a 12 story, three building, 501 unit affordable housing community on the corner of Broadway and Alewife Brook Parkway. The complex is a combination of tenant and management company ownership which is unique for this project type.
The administration for the complex was located in former rental units within the three 12 story tower buildings. The initial project was to implement renovation to the 501 units and common areas. To free up more units for waiting families a proposal was made as part of the overall renovation of the complex to erect a separate, new administration building to house these programs and place the currently occupied rental units back on the housing roll.
As part of the management company of Connolly & Partners LLC/ First Hartford Corp’s mission to “green” and make safer their holdings the decision was made to have the new structure achieve LEED status.
The new building was located at the junction of the three tower’s entry points and pathways from the richly landscaped forecourt reach out to each building to knit the structures visually and physically. Centrally located and consisting of equal program representation of the Tenant Management Group and Property Management company the program reflects the true collaborative spirit alive at the complex today.
Awarded LEED Silver status the building went on line in 2010 and is a hub of activity and a welcome center for new and prospective tenants.
